FAQ

Where do I customize weapons in Resonance of Fate?
Open the Customize menu from weapon shops in Ebel City, Cranktown, or Albona, or from Sweet Home. The Tinkerer in those towns crafts parts from scrap drops and items you disassemble at the Scrapper.
What is the best early weapon customization priority?
After Chapter 1’s shop beat (TrueAchievements: 30,000+ Rubies from Prologue rewards), buy scopes or Top Sight plus Rookie Grip for Zephyr’s SMG-05 before duplicate handguns (threetimes). Pick up optional HG High Barrel in Lucia; save the MG High Barrel drop for Hughes Power Station in Chapter 2—not required for Tar Man.
Do customized parts change how my gun looks in battle?
No. threetimes and the Neoseeker customization summary both note that attached parts stay on the grid only—stats change, not the in-combat model.
What do Charge Speed and Charge Acceleration do?
Charge Speed sets how fast the first targeting charge completes at range. Charge Acceleration sets how quickly extra charges stack during Hero Actions. Scopes raise Charge Speed; barrels raise Charge Acceleration per Neoseeker’s component table.
Can I remove a bad part without rebuilding the whole gun?
Yes. threetimes notes you can highlight a connected part and cancel it, which strips that piece and everything chained off it—useful when a build overshoots Weight.
Does weapon customization use Bezels or Bezel Shards?
No. Bezels fuel Hero Actions in combat. Customization spends Rubies at shops and Tinkerer recipes plus scrap materials from enemies—see the bezels guide for that economy.

How does weapon customization work?

Every handgun and machine gun has a Customize screen: your base weapon sits on a grid, and custom parts snap in when their connector icons match (circles, lines, and adapters must line up). threetimes compares it to a jigsaw—wrong placement gets rejected, and removing one part near the core can drop an entire chain.

Parts never appear on the character model; they only change numbers such as Charge Speed (CS), Charge Acceleration (CA), Bullet Focus (BF), Magazine Size (MS), and Weight (WGT). That is why scratch-heavy machine gun builds can look absurd on the grid while still following the same combat rules as the battle system tutorial.

The footage frame shows the Weapons list on the left and the part grid on the right—this is the screen you use for every gun mod, not a separate “gun shop” purchase.

Who crafts parts, and what do I need?

Tinkerers in Ebel City, Cranktown, and Albona craft parts from scrap (battle drops plus items you break down at the Ebel City Scrapper—check before selling unknown loot). Pay Rubies plus materials for scopes, barrels, grips, and magazines. Grenades and special ammo also come from the Tinkerer but attach to cases, not the socket grid. Pair grid work with the best gun setup scratch/direct split.

What should I upgrade first with limited Rubies?

Prioritize Charge Acceleration on your scratch machine gun (more charges per Hero Action—see Hero Action guide), then Charge Speed on whoever opens fights, then Magazine Size, always watching Weight so your case slot stays equipped (scratch vs direct damage).

Before Tar Man in Lucia, threetimes expects at least Top Sight + Rookie Grip on SMG-05 and basic handgun scopes—Hughes Power Station (Chapter 2) is where you pick up the MG High Barrel (+7% Charge Acceleration per TrueAchievements) and Scrapped Machinegun MS drops.

How do part types map to stats?

Neoseeker’s Basics of Customization table (community wiki, aligned with in-game tooltips) is the clean reference:

Part family Primary stats
Scopes / sights Charge Speed
Barrels / adapters Charge Acceleration
Hand grips / mounts Focus (accuracy) and Rate of Fire (critical-state salvos)
Bullet magazines Magazine Size

Stacked scopes boost Charge Speed legitimately—leave connector paths open for magazine upgrades later.

What are common weapon customization wastes?

Mistake Why it hurts Fix
Maxing Weight on one gun Second slot (heals, grenades, special ammo) unequips Remove outer grips; pick lower-WGT sights
Copying endgame grids early Late Tinkerer recipes need scrap you lack Follow threetimes chapter gates
Dual wield before averages beat case value Two half-built guns < one modded gun + grenades See weapon types

Expander grip and multi-part machine gun grid filling most of the customize tile in Resonance of Fate Enhanced Remaster

Late grids fill every tile—fine for post-game Arena ranks, overkill before Chapter 2 bosses. Bezels never socket on guns; they only fuel Hero Actions (bezels and bezel shards). Mod the weapons that actually spend those runs.
